NOPD names suspect in Central City shooting

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans police on Monday named a 26-year-old man as the suspect in a Central City shooting that injured two people.

The NOPD is looking for Damond Washington for two counts of attempted second-degree murder for the shooting that happened on April 24 in the 2000 block of Danneel Street.

Investigators say at around  2 a.m., a 33-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man walking in the block were approached by a vehicle that stopped them. Police say the suspect exited the vehicle and began firing, striking both the man and the woman.

Investigators said the suspect then fled the scene.

Both victims were transported to the hospital with what police say appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

If you know anything about this shooting you're urged to call Crimestoppers at 822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP.
