Kenner residents cleanup after tornado touches down

Power crews from outside of Jackson, Mississippi arrived in Kenner Tuesday morning to help Entergy linemen restore power.

More than 10,000 customers in Jefferson Parish alone spent the night in the dark after strong storms ripped through the area Monday.

In Kenner, a confirmed EF-1 tornado brought down at least 21 power poles, splitting the wood in half near the corner of Loyola and West Esplanade.

The wind also ripped shingles off houses and toppled trees including one in Walter Green's yard that survived four hurricanes.

"This reminds me of hurricane season, that's what this actually reminds me of," says Green. "Not something I want to go through again."

Entergy says it could be a couple days before everyone has power again because of the widespread damage.
