New Orleans shipyard looking to fill 250 full-time jobs

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Textron Systems plans to hold a one-day job fair in the hopes of hiring up to 250 people for full-time positions at its Slidell and New Orleans facilities.

On Saturday, May 9, participants will have an opportunity to apply and interview for several open positions. Some of the jobs include electricians, material handlers, outfitters and painters.

Applicants are being asked to bring multiple copies of their resume and identification. Anyone wishing to apply for a welder/shipfitter position should also bring a shield, protective clothing, gloves and any other tools used in the welding process.

The job fair runs from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at 19401 Chef Menteur Highway in New Orleans.

Textron Systems builds armored vehicles and marine crafts for the military. The company says it is moving into the manufacturing phase of several projects and needs up to 250 skilled craft positions filled. The workers are being hired through September of this year.
