JEFFERSON PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

A former Destrehan High School teacher accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student is expected to appear in court Thursday.

Investigators say Rachel Respess, 24, and Shelley Dufresne had sex with the student at the same time. The student told authorities that he had sex with both teachers at Respess' apartment in Kenner.

Jefferson Parish prosecutors have not formally charged either woman. We could learn Thursday if prosecutors plan to move forward in the case.

In a separate case, 32-year-old Shelly Dufresne, also a former Destrehan High School teacher, admitted that she had sex with the 16-year-old student in Montz.

On April 9, she pleaded guilty to obscenity instead of the original charge of carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

The deal means she will not serve the three-year jail sentence she was facing and will not be required to register as a sex offender. The judge sentenced Dufresne to 90 days in a mental health facility and three years probation. If she does not fulfill these terms, she must serve 90 days in jail in St. Charles Parish.
