LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WVUE) -- - Narcotics agents with the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office arrested 41-year-old Perry Bennett on Friday on narcotics-related charges.
Deputies say they approached Bennett, known on the streets as "Popeye," because he has been known to distribute illegal narcotics. Investigators say he had 61 rocks of crack cocaine valued at $1,200; half an ounce of processed marijuana valued at $15; and $280 in cash.
The Sheriff's Office said Bennett has an extensive narcotics arrest history and had been under investigation by the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office.
He was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center.
