Louisiana State Police released the identity of a man who died after two cars hit him. Investigators are still looking for the second driver.
Troopers say 42-year-old David Tarrant of Little Rock, Ark., was walking in the southbound lane of U.S. 51 in Tangipahoa Parish the night of April 27. The driver of a Nissan Altima hit his brakes when he saw Tarrant but was unable to avoid running into him. The impact tossed Tarrant into the northbound lane, where a second car hit him. Investigators say the second driver made a U-turn after hitting Tarrant and left the scene, heading southbound. Troopers describe the second vehicle as a brown, early 2000 model compact car.
The driver of the Nissan submitted to a breathalyzer test and his blood alcohol content registered under the legal limit. Analysts are also running toxicology tests on Tarrant.
