ABITA SPRINGS, LA (WVUE) - Investigators intercepted 60 pounds of marijuana they say was headed to Abita Springs.
U.S. Customs and the Border Protection Memphis Field Office intercepted the international shipment at the FedEx hub in Memphis. The investigation was then turned over to the Louisiana State Police, and detectives began watching 57-year-old Alfred Flint Jr.'s home, where the package was headed.
On April 29, troopers, Homeland Security agents and St. Tammany deputies conducted a controlled delivery of the package. Once Flint signed for it and accepted it, investigators executed a search warrant at his home, where they saw 47-year-old Hector Gonzalez of Covington removing the marijuana from the package. Flint and Gonzalez were both arrested.
Investigators said the search also yielded more marijuana, digital scales, a handgun, two shotguns, two rifles and a prescription bottle containing Vicodin.
