NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Rodney Jackson, the 22-year-old suspect in a French Quarter shooting caught on video, was arrested on Tuesday.

The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Bienville and Decatur streets. Surveillance cameras were rolling and captured the incident (mobile users can watch video surveillance here: http://bit.ly/1P0wHJx).

There were also witnesses nearby, including one who snapped a photo and submitted it to the French Quarter Task Force through its new app.

Police say Jackson knew the 27-year-old victim, who was shot in the back. The victim was transported the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers say Jackson was able to elude police, discarding his gun in a parked grey Honda Accord. Louisiana State Police recovered a loaded .9mm from inside of the vehicle.

Through further investigation, Jackson was positively identified as the shooter in this incident.

Jackson was arrested Tuesday and booked on charges of battery and illegal use of a weapon. He is being held on a $42,500 bond.
