NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Members of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation and administrators at Tulane University invite local residents to participate in a week of free swim safety lessons.
Red Cross certified water safety instructors and staff will offer five evenings of 45 minute sessions at 5 pm, 6 pm, and 7 pm.
The sessions will take place at Tulane University Reily Student Recreation Center.
Lessons are free and available to adults and to children five years or older.
These lessons were organized 12 years ago in honor of Ashley Marie Kelly, who lost her life in Lake Pontchartrain in the summer of 2003.
In memoriam, her sister Lotoya Kelly helped create the Ashley Kelly Swim Program to teach young people about the importance of swim safety.
