Florists prepare for Mother's Day rush

Less than 48 hours to Mother's Day and the rush is on at local flower shops.

Workers have been putting in long hours all week at Villere's Florist in Metairie.

Owner Roger Villere says this is the busiest week for his shop all year, though Valentine's Day is the biggest single day for sales and deliveries.

Employees started preparing and assembling the bouquets this past Sunday and they'll be delivering the flowers through this Sunday to moms across the area.

Over the next three days, it'll be close to a thousand arrangements that'll go out between the Mother's Day, the corsages and all the decorations for the prom," says Roger Villere.
