Suspected drunk driver leaves two motorcyclists in critical condition

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

 Two motorcyclists are in critical condition after a suspected drunk driver hit them on Elysian Fields Avenue.

According to NOPD, a man in his mid 20s and a woman in her early 20s, were traveling northbound on Elysian Field Avenue on a black Honda motorcycle. When they reached reached the intersection at North Roman Street a green Fox F-150 driven by 59-year-old Donald Ealy collided with them and ejected both the driver and passenger on the motorcycle.

Both motorcyclists sustained serious head injuries and are in critical condition at a local hospital according to NOPD. Ealy was not injured in the crash.

Police arrested Ealy for driving while intoxicated. The investigation is ongoing.
