NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - With just four games remaining in their season, Tulane is hitting their stride and building an NCAA tournament resume. Sunday's 4-3 win over South Florida gave the Wave their third series win in the last four weeks.
Junior Richard Carthon carried the offense, going 2-for-3 with all four RBI's, including an inside-the-park home run. The rest of Tulane's hitters compiled just four hits. On the mound, Emerson Gibbs pitched the first six innings, giving up three earned runs. Dan Rankin and Ian Gibault came on in relief and only allowed three hits.
After the game, Head Coach David Pierce told Tulane Sports Information "It's just a tribute to our players, just to keep going. It's been a dogfight this entire conference race. It's been tough, and at times it's been fun and stressful, but it's the right kind of stress, it's the right kind of grind, and we're enjoying it."
The Green Wave return to action Tuesday for senior night against Southern Miss.
