American Idol announced on Monday morning that January's 15th season will be its last.

Idol will return in January for a “season-long celebratory event.” American Idol XV will feature host Ryan Seacrest and judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr.

The show will continue its search for the final Idol superstar while paying tribute to the past 14 seasons, according to a press release from FOX.

The show was created by Simon Fuller, making its debut in 2002 with original judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul. Through its 14 season, Idol has seen numerous celebrities on the judge's bench – including Steven Tyler, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Ellen DeGeneres.
