Motorcyclist killed in N.O. East crash

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The NOPD Fatality Section is investigating a crash that killed a male motorcyclist Monday in New Orleans East.

The crash happened just after 1 p.m. near the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Lonely Oak Drive.

The motorcyclist was traveling east on Chef Highway when he collided with a black Lexus sedan that was preparing to make a U-turn. The cyclist had to be extricated from underneath the vehicle. He died on the scene. The 55-year-old male driver of the Lexus was not injured.

Blood and toxicology results are pending, and the investigation is ongoing.

Fatality Investigator Kevin Thompson is in charge of the investigation.
