(WVUE) - A 17-year-old boy faces several charges after he allegedly led deputies on a chase through the Thibodaux area and into Assumption Parish before being caught and arrested.
Jacob Ruth is being held in the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a $11,350 bond. According to a press release, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff Office said deputies responded to a call of young man on a stolen ATV Sunday at around 8:45 a.m. It said deputies tried to make a traffic stop, but Ruth allegedly ignored their demands. Investigators say he drove onto LA Highway 308 and crossed the parish line into Assumption Parish. Deputies with both Assumption and Lafourche parishes were able to box Ruth in and arrest him.
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office says the ATV was stolen from a Houma-area dealership.
Ruth was booked with illegal possession of stolen things, aggravated flight from an officer, careless operation, five counts of failure to stop at a stop sign, no safety helmet and operating an off-road vehicle on a highway. Ruth is also being held on a simple burglary charge out of Terrebonne Parish, where his bond was set at $50,000.
