5 shot overnight in New Orleans, police say

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Five people were shot overnight in four separate shootings, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

Officers have released few details at this time, providing only a brief description of each incident.

Shortly after 2 a.m., officers say that a woman was shot in New Orleans East. The shooting happened in the 7800 block of Bass Street.

Two victims were shot in Algiers in a second overnight shooting, officers say. The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Farragut Street. New Orleans police have not provided any further information.

A third shooting was reported, also in Algiers. This shooting happened in the 3200 block of Garden Oaks. Police say that a male victim sustained a gunshot wound.

New Orleans police list a fourth shooting along the lakefront. The shooting was reported around 2:45 a.m. near the intersection of Franklin Ave. and Lakeshore Drive. Officers say that a 25-year-old man was shot during an armed robbery.

Officers have not provided the condition of any of the victims.
