NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - LSU starter Jared Poche ran into trouble in the sixth inning and the Tiger bullpen faltered as LSU dropped its game with South Carolina 10-7.
The Tigers led 6-2 entering the sixth, but the Gamecocks rallied for four runs off Poche to tie the game.
LSU relievers Doug Norman and Hunter Newman had their own trouble in the seventh inning, combining to walk five batters, three with the bases loaded to give South Carolina the lead.
With the loss, LSU falls to 44-9 overall, 19-8 in SEC play. Game two is set for Friday evening at 7:00 p.m.
