Body found in Cocodrie waterway investigated as 'suspicious death'

TERREBONNE PARISH, LA (WVUE) - A man's body was found in a Cocodrie waterway and identified by two tattoos on his legs.

The body was found in the waterway along the 7800 block of Louisiana Highway 56 in Cocodrie. Detectives say they have identified the victim, but are not releasing his name pending family notification.

The body was found by a fisherman around 4:45 p.m. Thursday.

In an attempt to identify the victim, Terrebonne Parish deputies released a description of tattoos on the victim's legs – one reads "KKLS" and the other says "Tammy Sweet Lips."

After releasing this information, officers say they received several leads. Detectives say they now know the identity of the man, but are not releasing further details at this time.

The incident is being investigated as a "suspicious death," according to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office.

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed Friday.
