TANGIPAHOA PARISH, LA (WVUE) - A routine traffic stop in Tangipahoa Parish turned into a drug bust.
Friday morning, Louisiana State Troopers from Troop L pulled over a Chevrolet Sonic on I-12 east of I-55 for a traffic violation.
Troopers became suspicious during the stop. They say they asked for and received written consent to search the vehicle.
During the search, they discovered 13 kilos of cocaine hidden in an aftermarket compartment within the vehicle. The cocaine has a street value of $390,000.
The driver, 42-year-old Luis Flores, and his passenger, 37-year-old Irene Guzman were arrested. Both are from Pasadena, Texas. They were taken to the Tangipahoa Parish jail and booked with felony possession of cocaine over 400 grams.
