NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The forecasting challenges during the summer months is which day will see more showers and what locations will see more rain? Without fronts coming to trigger the rainfall, it's often difficult to see the little disturbances that perk up the more active storms.
We can follow a well defined upper low spinning over the Rockies with a southwest flow over the plains states. Add in abundant low level moisture streaming in from the Gulf and you have all the ingredients for a severe weather outbreak this weekend.
Fortunately for us, those storms will be far to our north and west. What we will see here will be the more typical daytime heating type storms of summer. Rain coverage at any given time might be 50-60%, however almost 100% of us will see some rain on Saturday and Sunday
