A push to allow Algiers to secede from New Orleans gains traction.
The state House Committee on Municipal, Parochial and Cultural Affairs likes two bills that outline the process for secession. The process would involve approval by state lawmakers and a an amendment to the State Constitution.
Rep. Jeff Arnold says he wants Algiers to break from New Orleans because city leaders don't pay enough attention to the area.
