New Orleans Police investigating armed robbery at hotel

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Detectives with the New Orleans Police Department are searching for a man wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred at a hotel. The incident occurred Friday at 9:30 p.m. at the Empress Hotel in the 1300 block of Ursulines Avenue.

Police say that the suspect, armed with a gun, jumped the front counter and demanded that the hotel employee empty the cash register. The employee followed the orders and the suspect fled the scene. He ran east on Marais Street towards Esplanade Avenue with an unknown amount of money.

The suspect is described as a 5'8" tall black man with a thin build and a brown complexion. He was wearing a white long-sleeve shirt black Dickie style pants, black shoes and white socks. He was wearing what appeared to be a blue shirt wrapped around his head and face, police say.
