METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) -

The 2015 hurricane season is right around the corner and Jefferson Parish officials are asking residents to be prepared. They just wrapped up a Monday news conference at their emergency operation center in Gretna.

The hurricane season starts in just two weeks and Jefferson Parish officials are urging all residents to make their evacuation plans now.

Jefferson Parish President John Young. Young said it is time for all residents to start thinking about what they would do if a hurricane comes. They should access JeffParrish.net. And businesses should go online to get there reentry Placards.

Young wanted to remind everyone that new flood protection only protects against a category three storm.

The parish is now working with Entergy to make sure problem spots are taken care of before the storm.

All residents are advised to keep their storm basins clean. With the start of hurricane season approaching officials urge residence not to leave anything to chance.
