Report: Pelicans get permission to talk with Gentry

The first name has surfaced in the Pelicans' head coaching search. ESPN's Marc Stein reports the Pelicans have received permission to talk with Golden State assistant Alvin Gentry.

Gentry has been a head coach for Phoenix, Detroit, LA Clippers and the Miami Heat. His career record is 335-370. Gentry does have ties to New Orleans. He was an assistant for Tim Floyd in 2003.
