NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans could be in the running to host an 11th Super Bowl.
The NFL will send out invites on Wednesday for cities to host the Super Bowl in 2019 and 2020. Civic leaders and Saints officials are hopeful that New Orleans will be invited to bid, according to our partners at Nola.com/The Times Picayune.
Minneapolis beat out New Orleans and Indianapolis last year to host the 2018 Super Bowl.
However, the Crescent City hopes to make a rally this year. Competition will be stiff as Atlanta and South Florida are also expected to be in the running, Nola.com/The Times Picayune reports.
The Falcons have a new stadium slated for completion in 2017.
Miami is tied with New Orleans for hosting the most Super Bowls. Both cities would be competing for the chance to host a record 11th Super Bowl. Both New Orleans and Miami have stadium renovations planned in coming years.
The NFL will announce which teams are in the running to host both Super Bowls during a Wednesday owners meeting.
