Southeastern falls to Texas A&M – Corpus Christi in Southland baseball tournament

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The Southeastern Louisiana Lions jumped out to an early 1-0 lead but could not overcome a rally by No. 8 Texas A&M Corpus Christi, falling 4-2, Wednesday in the opening round of the 2015 Southland Conference Baseball Tournament.

With the loss, the top-seeded Lions are placed in an elimination game against the loser of the No. 4 McNeese State vs. No. 5 Sam Houston State contest. The elimination game will take place Thursday at noon.

The Lions, who were held to only five hits, were led by Carson Crites and Ryan Byers who each recorded an RBI.

Brett Burner and Tyler Ware led the Islanders with an RBI apiece.

    The AP preseason poll came out today, and of course Alabama is No. 1. I'm going to breakdown a few teams in my Top 25. This is the 9th year I'm doing an AP poll. Fist off, no shock, I have the Tide in the top spot. Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa, doesn't matter who's at QB. Week one they play Louisville in Orlando. Right now they're only 24-point favorites.     Suspended LSU football player Drake Davis was in court Monday morning after being arrested on a battery charge. Davis, 21, of Baton Rouge, was ordered by Judge Don Johnson to have a 10 p.m. curfew. The state also requested Davis not have contact with the victim.
