Man wanted for attempted rape in Marigny

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

The NOPD is asking for the public's assistance in locating and identifying a suspect who is wanted for Attempted Forcible Rape. 

The incident took place May 16 in the 600 block of Mandeville Street.

At approximately 2:00 a.m., police say the suspect followed the 35-year-old female victim on foot. When they entered the block, the suspect grabbed the victim from behind and forced her to the ground. 

Once on the ground, the suspect allegedly attempted to sexually assault the victim. The victim struggled with the suspect who eventually fled on foot westbound on Royal Street and then in an unknown direction, police say.

The suspect was described as a thin build dark brown complexion black male, clean shaven, low haircut, approximately 5'10” tall and about 150 to 160 pounds.
