Nicholls State eliminated from Southland Tournament

SUGAR LAND, TEXAS (WVUE) - Nicholls State had ample opportunities in an elimination game against Northwestern State, but could not capitalize and fell 4-3 to the Demons.

The Colonels stranded eleven base runners, including one in scoring position in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th innings. The damage was done in the 5th inning when starting pitcher Ryan Deemes got into trouble and ultimately, four Demons crossed the plate, one of them unearned.

Nicholls State finishes the season 34-19-1 and is the first team eliminated from the Southland Tournament.

"As a coach, you take it personally," Nicholls State Head Coach Seth Thibodaux told Southland Sports Information after the game. "You feel like you could have done some things differently to prepare the team a little better. I'm frustrated because of the little things. Not scoring when we had a chance to early was on off the things."
