NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - We awake to a pretty nice start to our holiday weekend.
After strong storms on Thursday afternoon, only a few showers linger mostly along the coast and some drier air moved in behind a weak cold front. Most north locations made it down into the 60s for the morning lows.
The front will linger just along the coast keeping us mostly dry this Friday and less humid. Enjoy it while you can as the drier weather doesn't last long.
Winds become southeast again by Saturday morning. This will bring back scattered showers and storms for Saturday afternoon and more storms before the end of the holiday weekend.
It looks like 50-60 percent coverage for storms on Sunday and Monday. That means all is not lost as there will be many dry hours, but expect the warm and muggy weather to quickly return and when it does rain the storms be heavy.
