NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A truck slammed into the Marconi Drive railroad overpass on Friday afternoon, briefly shutting down lake-bound tragic.
The accident happened around 11 a.m. Friday at the overpass near New Orleans City Park. The truck was too tall, scraping the underside of the railroad overpass. No injuries were reported.
Friday's accident is the latest in a series of accidents at the overpass. The facade at the overpass was already knocked over after another truck accident in late March.
Residents say this is happening too frequently.
Norfolk Southern rail officials say they have already inspected the rail line once and will inspect it again before rail traffic is allowed through.
There is signage in the area warning people of the low bridge, but some wonder if it's enough.
