LACOMBE, LA (WVUE) - A woman allegedly beat her 2-year-old foster child with a hairbrush, shook the child and dropped her into a bathtub. The child is currently in critical condition.
Trenique Faciane, a 40-year-old foster mother from Lacombe, admitted to beating her child, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office. She was booked early Friday morning.
Deputies received reports around 5:30 p.m. Thursday that the child was vomiting and unresponsive. The child was transported to the hospital.
Detectives say they questioned Faciane at the hospital, who admitted to beating the child with a hairbrush, shaking the child and dropping her into a bathtub. A search warrant was obtained at her residence where police collected the brush and other items relevant to the investigation, officers say.
Aside from being a foster parent, officers say Faciane is the part owner of a child care facility in Slidell.
Faciane was charged with second degree cruelty to juveniles. Her bond has not been set.
