Man jailed in several NOE armed robberies

The NOPD arrested a man Thursday in connection with several armed robberies in the Michoud/ Village De L'est neighborhoods of New Orleans East.

Terrance Washington, 24, was arrested during a 9:38 p.m. traffic stop near the intersection of Hayne Boulevard and Lucerne Street. Washington was driving a white Jeep SUV similar to the one used in the robberies.

Washington is believed to be responsible for the following armed robberies:

On Friday, May 15, 2015, around 2:15 p.m., Washington followed a 61-year-old man to a residence in the 4800 block of Gilbert Street. Washington produced a pistol and took $20 in cash from the victim. Afterwards, Washington fled in a white Jeep.

On Monday, May 18, 2015, around 3:12 p.m., Washington followed a 57-year-old man to a residence in the 14000 block of Explorers Avenue. Washington produced a pistol and took over $100 in cash and the victim's cell phone.

On Tuesday, May 19, 2015, around 5:30 p.m., Washington approached a 41-year-old man in the driveway of his residence located in the 4800 block of Alsace Street. Washington produced a pistol and demanded the victim's property. The victim gave Washington $2 in cash. Washington fled the area on foot.

On Wednesday, May 20, 2015, around 11:11 a.m., video surveillance captured Washington following the 54-year-old man to his residence in the 4900 block of Cernay Street. Once at residence, Washington produced a pistol and demanded the victim's property. The victim handed the suspect $50 in cash. Afterwards, the suspect fled the area in a late model white unknown SUV.

Washington was booked with three counts of armed robbery and two counts of armed robbery with a firearm.

These investigations are on-going.
