Police: Man wanted for hitting another with metal pipe

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans Police are searching for a man wanted for striking another man with a metal pipe. The incident occurred Saturday at 10:10 a.m. at the intersection of Downman and Dwyer Roads.

Police say that 51-year-old Gerald Smith and the victim were engaged in an argument when Smith grabbed a metal pipe and hit the victim multiple times in the head and face. The victim was brought to a local hospital to receive treatment for multiple lacerations and possible fractures.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Smith for aggravated battery.
