Tornado watch issued for Southeast Louisiana

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Watch for Southeast Louisiana, Southern Mississippi and the adjacent coastal waters.

The watch went into effect at 1:55 p.m. and is expected to last until 8 p.m. Sunday night for all of South East Louisiana.

The NWS said scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon. Some could even be severe with damaging winds and up-to-quarter sized hail. Isolated tornadoes are possible.

A tornado watch is issued when conditions are favorable for tornadoes to form. It does not mean tornadoes are imminent.
