NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Most areas are seeing plenty of sunshine, but there are a few isolated storms. All the heat and brisk movement prompted the Storm Prediction Center to issue a tornado watch for this afternoon and evening. The internal winds combined with the fast moving storms can produce winds up to 60 miles per hour.
Areas near these storms are also experiencing lots of lightning. If you are not near a storm you are experiencing fairly pleasant conditions with partly cloudy skies and a brisk southerly breeze.
Lots of folks have outdoor plans this afternoon and evening so download the Fox 8 Weather App to keep track of nearby rain. Remember lightning is often one of the most dangerous parts of a storm and it doesn't have to be right overhead. When thunder roars, go indoors.
