New Orleans Police say a 24-year-old man died after he was involved in an accident on I-610 near St. Bernard Avenue on Monday morning.

Investigators say at 5:35 a.m., the driver of a black Acura lost control and hit the cement guardrail. As he and his passengers got out of the car, an SUV driven by a 34-year-old man hit the Acura and fatally struck the Acura's driver.

No one else was seriously injured in the accident.

The Orleans Parish coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, and will release the victim's name when that procedure is complete.

Police administered toxicology tests on the scene, but no tickets were issued.
