NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Causeway Bridge has reopened following a string of severe thunderstorms Tuesday morning.
The bridge was briefly closed due to poor visibility and high winds.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has also been issued for the viewing area. The warning is in effect for Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles and St. Tammany Parishes.
A squall line got the morning started with some heavy rain, gusty winds and frequent lightning.
Behind the squall comes light rain. It looks like light rain will be the main issue for the morning commute.
We may still see a flare up of some storms this afternoon.
Clouds and rain should actually help to keep temperatures down, but maybe by only a few degrees. With another flare up today, flash flooding could become an issue and a Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 8 a.m. Tuesday.
We are still expecting highs in the mid 80s. Not quite as much rain, but still around 50-60 percent coverage for Wednesday and Thursday before we drop to more isolated chances by Friday and the weekend.
