ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating the hit-and-run death of a 66-year-old woman.
At about 3:15 a.m., a deputy was flagged down at a gas station near Harrison Avenue and Highway 190 by a man who said he was looking for his mother. The woman reportedly walked away from the family home earlier in the morning, but had not returned.
Deputies began canvassing the area and found the woman just before 4 a.m. at the same intersection. She had injuries consistent with being struck by an vehicle. She was taken to the hospital, where she later died.
The St. Tammany Parish Coroner's office will announce findings on cause and manner of death.
Deputies are asking anyone with information to call 911.
