NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

A bold crime was captured on surveillance video. And, it happened on one of New Orleans' most popular streets.

A UPS driver was robbed at gunpoint on Magazine Street in broad daylight. Surveillance video obtained by Fox 8 News shows the driver being tailed by a gray SUV. The SUV, that appears to have 2 people inside, circles the block several times before a masked man armed with a gun gets out of the car and walks onto the UPS truck.

New Orleans Police say the suspect took money from the driver's pockets, then took off with 2 packages.

People who work on Magazine Street were concerned to hear the news, "it actually makes me have some anxiety because it's such a neighborhood area and I'm here all the time," said store employee Tara Kennedy.

The robbery happened just after 1:30 in the afternoon around the 3100 block of Magazine Street, "this is Magazine Street, this is our street and no one's going to take it from us," said Magazine Street business owner, Cindy Galliano.

Police say the UPS driver wasn't hurt. When asked for comment Wednesday, UPS released this statement:

"A UPS driver was involved in an incident yesterday in New Orleans. UPS is glad that our driver is now safe. We are participating with local authorities throughout their investigation," said UPS spokesman Dan Cardillo, "UPS takes the safety of our people very seriously. But, we don't publicly discuss our security methods because doing so would make those methods less effective.

Police say the suspect was wearing a black bandana to conceal his face, a black hooded sweatshirt and black jeans.
