GRETNA, LA (WVUE) - A suspect was arrested Tuesday in connection with the armed robbery of a Gretna pharmacy. Police are still searching for a second suspect.
Royal Stevens, 38, of New Orleans, was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center with one count of armed robbery.
On May 15, gunman entered a business in the 500 block of Lafayette Street and demanded drugs and cash from the employees. They escaped with several types of drugs and $400 in cash in a silver Ford Mustang .
During their investigation, detectives found the getaway car and conducted 24-hour surveillance of the location, which eventually led to the discovery of Stevens' address. A search warrant executed at his home yielded thousands of dosage units of the same type of drugs that were stolen in the robbery.
Stevens has previous armed robbery arrests and convictions in New Orleans that resulted in a 35-year sentence. He served 19 year and was on parole when he was arrested in connection with the Gretna robbery.
