Murder suspect nabbed as he tried to board a helicopter

PLAQUEMINES PARISH, LA (WVUE) - An offshore worker was arrested as he attempted to board a helicopter, just hours after he allegedly shot and killed a man in Lafayette.  Plaquemines Parish Sheriff Lonnie Greco says 38 year old Jeremy James Authorlee of Opelousas was stopped by deputies Wednesday morning on Chevron Road in Venice, as he was about to go offshore for a job.  .

Greco says his department was contacted by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office in connection with a a murder that happened earlier that morning. Investigators identified Authorlee as a suspect in what's described as a domestic-related shooting that happened around 4 am in the 400 block of  Marigny Circle in Lafayette.

Authorlee was transported to the Belle Chasse Criminal Investigations Bureau for further investigation, where he was subsequently interviewed by Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office detectives. During questioning, Arthur lee reportedly admitted to firing shots from a handgun that fatally wounded a 26-year-old man.

After being interviewed, Authorlee was arrested by PPSO detectives as a fugitive on an arrest warrant that was obtained by Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office investigators.  He was charged with one count of second degree murder.

He was subsequently released to the custody of Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office deputies and transported to Lafayette Parish. His bail in Lafayette Parish was set at $250,000. Authorlee faces no criminal charges in Plaquemines Parish.
