Body pulled from Mississippi River in Port Sulfur identified

PORT SULPHUR, LA (WVUE) -

Authorities have positively identified a body recovered from the Mississippi River earlier this month in Port Sulphur.

Plaquemines Parish Sheriff Lonnie Greco said investigators determined Wednesday it was Anthony Robert Smith Ferguson, 27, of Houma. His body was recovered on May 12.

Ferguson was reported missing by Louisiana State Police in New Orleans on March 11.

The official cause and manner of Ferguson's death is pending toxicology results. Louisiana State Police are still investigating the incident.
