NOPD: Warrant for teen accused in Friday's French Quarter shooting, canceled

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans Police announce that an arrest warrant obtained for a teen in Friday's double shooting in the French Quarter has been canceled, following further investigation. The shooting took place just after 4:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Dauphine Street. The injuries to the two 23-year-old men shot are considered non-life threatening.

Police say that a warrant was obtained for 17-year-old Jerry Harris after he was identified as the shooter, by a witness viewing a photo lineup. Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff Deputies found Harris Saturday morning and attempted to speak with him at Central Lockup. His attorney refused the interview with police.

After further investigation, detectives learned through tracking Harris's ankle monitor that he was not in the area at the time of the shooting. Detectives then canceled the warrant and released Harris.

Investigators are still working to find who was responsible for the shooting. If you have any information that could help police with this case, you are asked to call NOPD Eight District Detectives at 504-658-6080 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
