Motorcyclist dies in Sunday morning crash

HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - State police are investigating a motorcycle accident that killed a Thibodaux man Sunday morning.

According to Louisiana State Police, 40-year-old Verbon Robbins died at the hospital after hitting a utility pole on North Hollywood Road around 2 a.m. on May 31.

Police say Robbins passed another motorcycle, then failed to negotiate a curve in the road. His 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle traveled off the right side of the road and struck a pole. He died after being taken to the hospital.

Police say Robbins was wearing an approved helmet at the time. Alcohol use is unknown at the time and routine tests are pending. Police said the crash is still under investigation.
