A man who stole a wallet from a Slidell Starbucks was arrested Sunday after one of his crimes led police straight to him, according to the Slidell Police Department.

Nikko Vaccaro, 21, faces charges of theft, forgery, monetary instrument abuse, bank fraud and identity theft. Vaccaro was booked into the Slidell City Jail and was later transferred to the St. Tammany Parish Jail.

According to police, the victim left his wallet at the Starbucks and returned an hour later to look for it. When he couldn't find it, he called his credit card company, and found out that several purchases had been made with the card, including one charge at a Slidell hotel.

Slidell Police went to the hotel and found Vaccaro, who initially identified himself using the victim's name. Police said his story eventually unraveled, and he confessed to finding the wallet on the ground and using the credit cards to make several purchases, including the hotel room.

The wallet and several receipts were found in his hotel room, and Vaccaro was placed under arrest. There was no immediate word on bond.
