LSU's Alex Lange named Freshman Pitcher of the Year

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - On the heels of a dominant, complete-game shutout of UNC-Wilmington in LSU's regional, Alex Lange has been named Freshman Pitcher of the Year by Collegiate Baseball Magazine.

Lange is the sixth player in program history to earned a National Player of the Year recognition, including current shortstop Alex Bregman. The Lee's Summit, Missouri native is 11-0 this season with a 1.76 ERA, 110 strikeouts and an opponent batting average of .206 in 97 innings pitched.

The 6'3" righty is slated to start Saturday in the Tigers' Super Regional against UL-Lafayette.

    Today's work was much lighter between the Saints and Chargers was much lighter. They wore no pads only shells and helmets, and they only practiced two hours instead of two and a half like Thursday.
