LSU Golf wins first national championship since 1955

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - LSU has its first national championship of the 2014-15 school year as the golf team secured the fifth title in program history Wednesday in Bradenton, Florida.

The Tigers defeated Southern California in match play, 4-1, to secure the first golf national title since 1955. St. Paul's alumnus Brandon Pierce secured the first match win on the day and All-American senior Ben Taylor delivered the knockout blow with a par putt on the 18th hole.

Zach Wright and Eric Pierce also won their matches. LSU's previous championships were earned in 1940, 1942, 1947 and 1955.
