Body found on French Quarter riverfront; foul play not suspected

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New Orleans police say a passer-by found an unidentified man's body in the French Quarter near the Mississippi River.

Officer Frank Robertson III says the cause of death is unknown, but investigators don't suspect foul play.

He says the body was found just after 7 a.m. Thursday near the Moonwalk river walkway and overlook behind The Shops at Jax Brewery.

Robertson says the body was near an area where transients hang out. He says police don't know whether the man was a transient.
