Bloodied Houma man found unconscious, head beaten with boulder

HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - Two men have been arrested following the beating of a Houma man.

Donald Dardar, 35, and Robert Authement, 36, both face attempted second degree murder charges following the incident. The victim remains in critical condition.

The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Saturday on Santa Monica Drive in Houma. Officers arriving on the scene found a man unconscious in the front yard of a residence, severely bleeding from the head.

Witnesses told police that two men were involved in the attack. The suspects approached the victim and attempted to fight him, Terrebonne Parish deputies say. One of the suspects attacked the victim with a large concrete boulder, causing massive head trauma. The suspects fled the scene prior to the arrival of police.

Deputies say they were able to identify Dardar and Authement as suspects in the case. Both were located in Chauvin late Saturday night.

Dardar and Authement were arrested and face one count of attempted second degree murder. They were transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Center.

The motive for the attack remains under investigation.

Deputies say the victim was transported from the scene to Terrebonne General Medical Center. He was then airlifted to a hospital in New Orleans where he remains in critical condition.
