Police arrest a man for shop lifting from a New Orleans East Rite Aid

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Police arrest 22-year-old Andrew Hoang and booked him for attempting to shop lift from a New Orleans East Rite Aid.

According to a NOPD report, it happened around two a.m. Thursday at the Rite Aid in the 5600 block of Bullard Avenue. Surveillance video shows Hoang entering the store and attempted to conceal merchandise under his clothing.

Police say when Hoang tried to walk out with the stolen items he was approached by a store manager. Hoang then pointed a pistol at the manager, then threw down the stolen merchandise before fleeing in a late model Toyota. Police were able to identify Hoang using his cell phone he left behind on the scene.

Police booked Hoang with Attempted Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault and Resisting Arrest.
